I hold an HP ZE 4500 with the typical plug problem that cause it to go to freestyle or power down. Does anybody have information on how to fix it or know how much a repair would cost me? I want to grant the computer to my niece since my wife and I purchased a new one.

HP ZE4500 Plug Problem. Any information?

The connectors from the power plug certainly break from the motherboard. I had equal problem. After seeing a new motherboard be $400, I just terminated up buying a new one for $650.
There are some tech shops that you can dispatch it to and they will solder the connections back to the board, but from what I read, that fix usually last a couple months and it happens again. Kind of a gamble away of $150 if you ask me.
Sorry, I had impossible to tell apart issue and never found a better solution than just buying a unsullied laptop.
While you can replace it with a clean HP 5 vold adapter I prefer to cut the plastic back find the broken rope and solder it. Be carefull not to melt the plastic parts near the soldering iron. Do not use a salder gun it will ruin the connector. A replacement connector can be purchased but you still have to salder it on.
